EASA framework + French specifics: register as operator (EU-wide), AlphaTango for local nuances, Paris is almost entirely no-fly.
The rules
- EU/EASA rules apply: register once as a UAS operator in any EASA state (valid EU-wide) and label your operator ID on the aircraft; your Mavic-class drone flies in Open A2/A3 subcategories, sub-250 g in A1.
- Complete the free EU online training/exam (A1/A3) for drones ≥250 g.
- Paris and its inner ring are a permanent no-fly zone for leisure drones — no exceptions without professional authorization.
- Géoportail's restriction map is the authoritative French airspace reference.
- Insurance is strongly recommended and required for commercial operations.
